prague castle. his travels, particularly to switzerland, broadened his artistic horizons. notably, between 1850 and 1853, navrátil, with the assistance of several helpers, decorated twenty rooms in the imperial castle at zákupy, featuring historical, genre, and allegorical works.
legacy and later life
navrátil's artistic prominence led to his appointment as president of the
union of artists in 1850. however, a stroke in 1861 left him partially paralyzed, forcing him to relinquish this position. despite living in poverty, navrátil's influence on czech art is undeniable.
