juan manuel muñoz gambero is a spanish archaeologist born in málaga in 1942. he is known for being a pioneer of andalusian archaeology and for his work in the excavation of the carteia roman site in san roque, cádiz. he has also worked in egypt and egipto, and is a member of the tiro foundation. he is the founder of the grupo de investigaciones arqueológicas y espeleológicas (gae) and has made several important archaeological discoveries in spain, including the ibero-púnico site of the cerro de la tortuga and the fenician site of the cerro del villar. he is currently the director of the seminario municipal de arqueología del ayuntamiento del rincón de la victoria.
