Alan Munro Reynolds (1926–2014) was a painter whose career traced a profound evolution from the tangible, sun-drenched landscapes of the British countryside to the enigmatic depths of pure abstraction. Born in Newmarket, Suffolk, into a world where his father worked as a stableman, Reynolds’ early life was rooted in the raw, physical reality of the English landscape. His approach during this period was heavily informed by the legacies of Constable and Turner, yet he infused these classical influences with a modern, tactile energy.
