Born in London in 1951, Carolyne Kardia has established herself as a profound weaver of dreams and landscapes, creating works that exist at the delicate intersection of abstract expressionism and meticulous natural observation. Her artistic journey is one of remarkable transformation, moving from the tactile, structural world of sculpture to the luminous, atmospheric realms of painting. After honing her craft at the prestigious St Martin’s School of Art and later earning an MA in sculpture from the Royal College of Art, Kardia’s early career was defined by sculptural installations that responded to architectural spaces. However, it was in 1987 that a pivotal shift occurred, as she began to embrace color and the two-dimensional plane, allowing her to explore the fluid interplay between inner emotion and external beauty.

Her years working as an Occupational Therapist within the Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provided a unique lens through which to view the world, infusing her practice with themes of healing, resilience, and quiet contemplation.
