Collectible Description

Ensamble (Assembly) is an installation of six cement fronts intervened with the sgrafitto technique. In each front, two texts, two voices and two underlinings coexist. Ensamble operates in the intersection between writing, subjectivity, and community. A library. A front of a niche wall. Assembled bodies. Word-body-image. As subjects -first- and as society (is that the order?), we are assemblies. Our readings, our memories, and oblivion define our edge. A keloid that pierces and permeates. Like meaning, like water, it moves through the layers of that superficial, dermal subjectivity that we can mention, and the other -more elusive- that contains the shapes that the mirror returns us. Resonance of voices rubbing the reversible flesh of our history. What crosses us? Which is the number that assembles us?Note: the fragments reproduced on the cement are transcriptions of the underlined texts of the artist’s personal library.

Artist Biography

Hernán Camoletto: Exploring Image and Word

Hernán Camoletto, born in San Jorge, Santa Fe, Argentina in 1976, is an Argentine artist whose work delves into the intricate relationship between visual imagery and linguistic expression. Currently residing in Rosario, he pursues both artistic creation and teaching roles, shaping his creative vision through a multifaceted approach. His recent endeavors focus on addressing themes of communicability and memory—concepts central to his artistic explorations—primarily utilizing mediums such as drawing, painting, and installation.
  • Early Influences & Formation: Camoletto’s artistic journey began without formal academic training; he honed his skills through workshops and clinics, absorbing knowledge from experienced mentors. Notably, he participated in “El Levante,” a reading clinic dedicated to analyzing artwork, fostering critical engagement with visual culture alongside Graciel Carnevale, Mauro Machado, Luján Castellani, and Lorena Cardona (2007 & 2008).
  • Solo Exhibitions: Camoletto’s solo exhibitions showcase his distinctive artistic voice. “Imagen regresiva” (curated by Florencia Battiti), presented at Crudo arte contemporáneo in Rosario (2022), investigates the concept of regression within visual narratives, prompting reflection on how images convey past experiences and emotions. Similarly, “Silencio,” exhibited at El Gran Vidrio in Córdoba (2019), explores the power of stillness—both literal and metaphorical—as a conduit for artistic expression.
  • Collective Projects & Recognition: Camoletto’s collaborative endeavors have garnered critical acclaim. He contributed to “Qué cosa, la poesía visual?” at Centro Cultural Kirchner in Buenos Aires (2023), curated by Guillermo Daghero, furthering the dialogue between art and poetry. His participation in “Un decir” at BARRO in Buenos Aires (2021) alongside Joaquín Rodríguez underscores the importance of concise communication within artistic contexts.
  • Notable Achievements: Among his notable achievements are “Caudal,” featuring Gabriel Chaile, Berny Garay Pringles, Alfredo Frías, Jessica Gómez and curated by Andrea Fernández at RUSIA Galería in Tucumán (2014), which examines the concept of flow—both physical and conceptual—in artistic representations. Furthermore, “Terreno baldío” alongside Luciano Burba and Paola Sferco (curated by Guillermo Daghero) at El Gran Vidrio (2014) delves into themes of emptiness and absence as sources of creative impetus.
  • International Presence & Current Status: Camoletto’s artwork has gained recognition internationally, appearing in private collections across Argentina, Chile, the United States, Canada, and France. He continues to reside and work in Rosario, actively engaging with contemporary artistic discourse and furthering his exploration of image and word as instruments for conveying profound ideas.
