Born in 1965 in the Handsworth district of Birmingham, Hurvin Anderson occupies a unique position in the landscape of contemporary British art. As the youngest of eight children born to Jamaican parents who arrived in the United Kingdom as part of the Windrush Generation, his very existence is a testament to the profound cultural shifts of the mid-twentieth century.
