His formative years were spent absorbing the atmosphere of Liverpool’s bustling docks, witnessing firsthand the dynamism of transatlantic trade and the burgeoning industrial revolution. This environment instilled in him a meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of shipbuilding techniques – skills he skillfully translated into his paintings.
