Born in 1963 in Carrizo, Arizona, on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, Miles carries within him the complex tapestry of the White Mountain Apache, San Carlos Apache, and Akimel O'odham lineages. His artistic journey is not merely a pursuit of aesthetics but a continuous dialogue between the storied past of his people and the unapologetic reality of contemporary Native life. Growing up amidst the landscapes of Arizona, Miles was shaped by the oral traditions and storytelling heritage that define Apache culture, yet his vision was equally forged in the urban pulse of Phoenix, where he studied graphic design and absorbed the visual languages of cartoons, science fiction, and comic books.
