Jack Merriott (1901–1968) was a master of the ephemeral, an artist whose brush captured the very breath of the English landscape. Though he initially pursued a path in architecture and worked as a shipping clerk, his heart remained tether of the canvas. A highly regarded teacher of watercolour painting, he became a prominent figure in the artistic community, serving as Vice-president of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour.
