Gerolamo Induno was far more than a mere observer of history; he was a participant in its most turbulent chapters, an artist whose very lifeblood was intertwined with the struggle for Italian unification. Born in Milan in 1825 to a father who served as a chef and butler at the Milanese court, Induno grew up in an era defined by the fiery spirit of the Risorgimento.
