Description de l'œuvre

The eagle or garuda is the carrier of Lord Vishnu and symbolises the Soul, Jiva Atma, that carries the Super Soul, Param Atma. It is also considered a metaphor for speed and attentiveness. The halo that rings in the eagle’s head is a chakra, Lord Vishnu’s weapon. The eagle’s sense of sharp astuteness is captured by his piercing gaze and motionless body. Its upturned crest and large imposing torso evoke a sense of regality and boldness.

Divya Thakur: Bridging Tradition and Innovation in Contemporary Design

Divya Thakur, born in India in 1971, is an Indian designer and interior architect whose artistic vision seamlessly blends the rich heritage of Indian culture with cutting-edge design principles. From her formative years at St. Kabir Public School in Chandigarh to her postgraduate studies at Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts and subsequent explorations at Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, and Pratt Institute, Thakur’s journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of creative excellence and an unwavering commitment to storytelling through visual mediums.
  • Early Influences: Thakur's artistic sensibilities were nurtured from a young age by her parents— Umesh Chandra Thakur, a former Indian Army Major, and Prema Thakur, a former school principal—who instilled in her values of discipline and intellectual curiosity. Winning her first design award at St. Kabir Public School solidified her passion for aesthetics and established her as an emerging talent within the Indian design landscape.
  • Formal Education: Her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Sir J.J. Further enriching her skillset were intensive courses at Central Saint Martins and Pratt Institute, exposing her to international design trends and fostering collaborations with visionary artists.

A Kaleidoscope of Design Projects: From Film Posters to Hotel Interiors

Thakur’s professional career blossomed as she founded Design Temple, a boutique design firm dedicated to crafting distinctive spaces and experiences that resonate with cultural narratives. Her portfolio spans diverse disciplines—film poster design for titles like “The Namesake” and “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” book covers for Naman Ramachandran's "Lights, Camera, Masala," branding initiatives for Asian Paints and Taj Hotels—demonstrating her versatility and ability to adapt to evolving creative challenges. Notably, she conceived *Animania*, a collaborative exhibition uniting artists from Argentina, Tokyo, Sweden, and the United States, aiming to foster empathy through reinterpretations of Indian mythology.
  • Film Poster Design: Thakur’s meticulous attention to detail and stylistic flair elevated film posters into compelling visual statements, capturing the essence of cinematic narratives with striking imagery and evocative typography.
  • Brand Collaborations: Her partnerships with Asian Paints and Taj Hotels showcased her capacity to translate brand identities into immersive environments that reflected cultural values and aesthetic sensibilities.
